Campsites

Plan Ahead. Pack Smart.
Leave No Trace.

How Campsite Selection Works

  • Campsite assignments are based on registration order—first come, first served.
  • You’ll choose your site number during registration, but not the lettered area (a, b, c, etc.)
  • Each site can be split into multiple patrol areas, so be prepared to share water spigots, pavilions, or lean-tos with nearby patrols
  • If you’re bringing multiple patrols, register together and note that you’d like adjacent areas (e.g., Site 3A & 3B)
  • If your patrol has any medical considerations, please be sure to list those in the registration comment section.
  • Some sites have access to power. See map.

Campsite Rules and Expectations

  • No vehicles in campsites without a permit. Unload your gear, then move vehicles to a designated parking area.
  • One trailer per patrol is allowed; the tow vehicle must be parked elsewhere.
  • Set-up starts at 3:00 PM Friday.
  • Follow Leave No Trace principles. The site should look better when you leave than when you arrived.

Campsite Judging & Evaluation

Every patrol’s site will be evaluated Saturday afternoon by staff. While it’s not a competition against others, evaluations contribute to your Honor Patrol score.

Here’s what the staff will be looking for:

  • Proper tent setup with ground cloths
  • Neat and safe cooking area with proper food and fuel storage
  • Trash and waste managed appropriately
  • First aid kit visible and stocked
  • Fire safety measures in place (extinguishers, buckets, etc.)
  • Displayed patrol flag and American flag
  • Bonus points (figuratively) for camp gadgets, site gateways, or creative touches

Helpful Tips from the Trail

  • Split duties early. Assign setup roles before you arrive to speed things up.
  • Use a duty roster. It shows the judges you’re organized—and keeps your patrol running smoothly.
  • Consider pioneering projects. Not required, but they showcase your skills and make your site more comfortable.
  • Keep it dry and high. Rain happens. Store gear in bins, elevate food, and keep sleeping areas off low ground.
  • During extreme cold, storing liquids in a cooler helps prevent freezing.

Any additional questions may be asked during check-in or by contacting the Scoutmaster or SPL.
